The Oncology Children's Foundation (OCF) is a not-for-profit children's charity dedicated to finding a cure for sick and critically ill children suffering from cancer, leukaemia and other serious cancer related illnesses.

In Australia today more children die of oncology related conditions than any other disease. In 2006 over 700 Australian children under the age of 16 were diagnosed with cancer. 30 years ago most children with cancer died, now 75 per cent can be cured permanently. Unfortunately one in four don't survive.

OCF raises money to fund The Oncology Research Units at The Children's Hospital, at Westmead and The University of NSW. OCF is dependent on public and corporate support. Your donation will make a difference!

The OCF Mother's Day Clash - May 10th 2009

In April it was announced that OCF is the NSW Swifts' official charity partner

On Mother's Day the NSW Swifts played the Adelaide Thunderbirds at the Olympic Sports Centre. This was the official OCF game day.

Stephanie Bruce (15) was the official NSW Swifts ball carrier at the NSW Swifts vs Adelaide Thunderbirds Match on April 10th. Stephanie is currently undergoing treatment at The Children's Hospital at Westmead.Stephanie's mum, Pauline McAlary and her grandmother Joan McAlary were with her on the day to support her and celebrate Mother's Day.

Some of the children currently being treated at The Children's Hospital at Westmead, and their families, formed a guard of honour for the Sydney Swans players on April 18th (Goal 4 A Goal day) Twelve year old, James Irvine was the official Swans' mascot on the day and ran onto the ground with the players. James' family had a great day together and James was thrilled to be involved. He reluctantly took off his official Swans mascot guernsey for washing after three days of constant wear, and put it straight back on after washing...

Support so far has been great and we exceeded last years' total of $60,000 on Goal 4 A Goal Day! Our target is $100,000 in 2009. Thanks to Premier Nathan Rees and the NSW Government for their support of the day and a $5,000 donation.

Premier Rees said: "Research into cancer is the key to unlocking a happier, healthier future for our kids. I hope everyone at the Swan's game this weekend is inspired by the courage of James Irvine and other kids being treated for cancer and really gets behind the Goal 4 a Goal program.

There are a lot of reasons I hope the Swans kick a lot of goals this season, but the most important one will be that every kick that's on target, gets the OCF a bit closer to their target too."

Today's research is tomorrow's medicine

Last year as part of an initiative for better governance OCF commissioned independent auditing of its operations.

Guidelines from the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) were followed. Find out more about this committee.

"I first want to congratulate you again on the most impressive job you have done building the Oncology Children's Foundation.  While the advisory committee report hopefully communicated our collective and individual enthusiasm for the exciting research programs you are supporting, I want to add my personal admiration for both the excellent work you have done raising money and for the progressive way in which you are investing in innovative research.  It was a privilege to be asked to contribute."
