Tweed Border Hockey Association raises $10000 for OCF

The Tweed Border Hockey Association scored a massive goal in its first charity dinner by raising more than $20,000.

Held to collect cash for junior hockey and the Oncology Children's Foundation, the dinner surpassed all expectations.

Association President Richard Phillip said the Cudgen League's Club event went off very well.

"Everyone had a ball and everyone was raving," Mr Phillip said. "The way the night went off, we're very proud."

Tweed Junior Hockey and the OCF will now have more than $10000 each to spend, raised through raffles, sponsorship and an auction on the night.

Guest speakers were champion swimmer Susie O'Neal, one of Australia's greatest female hockey players Sharon Buchanan, and Nicholas Latter, a cancer survivor and nephew of well-known Tweed doctor Ian Kettle.
