Bequests

The Oncology Children's Foundation is a not-for-profit charitable organisation which is attempting to help young cancer patients overcome their disease. Established in 1993, the goal of our organisation is to provide much needed funds to the Oncology Research Unit (ORU) to assist with their research into a better cure for those young children who suffer from cancer and cancer related illness.

We need your help:

We need your help to ensure that future generations of children can experience a full and fruitful life, not held back by the sometimes debilitating effects of chemotherapy.

Our goal is to increase the survival rate to over seventy five percent for children with oncology related illnesses as well as providing the best possible care, but we cannot do this without your help.

How can I help?

A Bequest is a significant way to help The Oncology Children's Foundation combat. If you have been touched by cancer yourself, know somebody who has or are fortunate enough to have no experience with it at all, you can know that your Bequest will make a significant change to the life of a child.

The best legacy that you could provide is the gift of life to another.

This is where a Bequest made in your Will to a charitable organisation like OCF can make a life changing difference.

A Bequest is the provision of a proportion of your estate to the Oncology Children's Foundation- once your family and loved ones have been provided for.

How can I include OCF in my will?

You can include OCF in your Will, designating as much or as little as you deem important. A bequest isn't a matter of size or quantity, rather a thought, a piece of generosity that will transcend the act of giving- the endowment of a future for another.

If your Will has been drawn up and made final and all your loved ones are provided for, you will need to include a codicil.

A Codicil is a change or addition to a Will which is an inexpensive legal procedure that can be easily arranged. By this, you can ensure that a proportion of your estate can make a difference to the life of a child.

When you make changes to your Will or are writing a Will, the Oncology Children's Foundation recommends that you seek independent legal advice and take every precaution to ensure that your estate is divided with your best interests.

What sort of a bequest can I make?

There are several ways that you can make a bequest to the Oncology Children's Foundation, some of the most popular ones include:

  • A fixed sum or item- this may be a specified amount of money, personal possessions, art, jewellery, a share portfolio, investments, insurance policies or real estate.
  •  A percentage of your Estate- some people are sometimes unaware of the exact value of their estate, so to negate this you can choose to leave a proportion of your estate to the OCF.
  • Residue of your estate-you may like to stipulate in your Will that once all other bequests have been made that the residue be contributed to OCF.
  • The life bequest- you may wish to leave your estate to someone you dearly love, to benefit from and use during their lifetime. If there is any remaining residue from this you may wish to bestow the remaining estate to the OCF.

The greatest gift that you can grant to another is the gift of life. Make a bequest to the OCF and ensure that your legacy transcends your lifetime. By giving to the OCF today, you can ensure a bright future for the generations tomorrow.
